Graphics: Considering the actual time this game came out, they were pretty good, a little higher than average, I'd say.
Gameplay: It's just a pretty average game, you play as (suprise, suprise) Sphinx. With a shiny sword. It's similar in numerous ways to Legend of Zelda, lots of puzzles, lots more action, incredibly hard bosses (even the first ones are tricky at first, but thankfully, bosses are few and far between) But, here's an interesting feature: there are 2 characters, which really does mix it up a bit. The second character is entirely puzzle-based, no combat whatsoever. This gives you a break from Sphinx's fast paced lifestyle, letting your brain catch up a little. Trust me, you'll need to concentrate hard on this character, his puzzles are extremely odd, usually with obvious end results, but not so obvious solutions. I'd rather not tell you the name of this character, but you first "meet" him in the second world.
Sound: The music is nothing special, or unheard before, it sets the mood with very little elegance - something hectic comes up and the music switches to a fast paced song. You'll probably be reaching for the mute button after a while as it's highly repetitive.
Controls: They're never the right sensitivity. They're either too sensitive and you jump too far, or not sensitive enough and you miss your oppertunity to attack a boss. You'd be better off playing with your elbows, sometimes.
Camera: This camera must've been programmed by Satan himself. Nuff said.
Variety: You'll need to adopt slightly different tactics to some of the opponents, such as a minotaur based opponent - you must wait for it to charge past you into an obstacle to stun itself to leave it vulnerable. Most you can just run up and hack it to pieces though...it's more fun to play with them though, like luring them over cliffs >: D
Notes:
There are only a handful of subquests available
PS2 only game
Despite all it's drawbacks, it's an oddly addictive and thoroughly enjoyable game. Maybe I'm just a sucker for Egypt, though...
I'd recommend this game for people who enjoy: Egyptian themes, RPG, puzzle, slightly darker themed games, kicking the rear end of mythilogical creatures
